This first ticket I've ever gotten in the mail by the money-hungry state that I'm not pissed about. A complete lapse of judgement on my behalf. Could have been a lot worse - luckily I do recall seeing no moving traffic at the time.
Internship in DC Hourly Pay: $10 per hour
Parking: $12
Hours worked per day: 7.5
Daily Income:
$75 (Before Taxes)

So let me get this strait. You were doing 11 over in the rain and were surprised by your inability to stop based on the timing of the light? The higher the speed limit, the longer duration between amber and red. Just pay the ticket and be glad you didn't hit anyone. Perhaps this is why they have these cameras, to force people to pay attention to the road, instead of their phone call/stereo/lipstick/distractions.

That's the problem with red lights sometimes. If there's no cross traffic and you don't see the light change, it's very easy to miss. Especially when you're not too far behind the other cars who made it.

It was a yellow - I did what most people do when they see a yellow - I gunned it. The moment I accelerated, I realized that I'd end up running the red. Instead of braking and ending up in the middle of the intersection, i just went for it.
